Built a secure enterprise document management platform for a financial services firm. Handles KYC record collection and verification, supplier document management, internal company files, financial reports, multi-stage approval workflows, and structured cloud-based document storage with access control and audit trails.
The problem
A financial firm was managing KYC records, supplier contracts, and compliance documents across email threads and shared drives — with no access control, no approval workflow, and no audit trail for regulatory purposes.
The approach
Built a TypeScript/React web application backed by PostgreSQL and cloud object storage (AWS S3). Implemented role-based access control (RBAC) with document-level permissions. Designed an approval workflow engine with multi-stage sign-off, comment threads, and status tracking. Added full audit logging for regulatory compliance and integrated document preview for common formats (PDF, DOCX, XLSX).
Outcome
Centralized all document workflows with enforced approval chains, role-based access, and a complete audit trail — replacing email-based document sharing with a compliant, searchable archive.
